1983 Louisville Slugger George Brett P89

Offered for sale is a Louisville Slugger model P89 used by George Brett of the Kansas City Royals during the 1983 season. Brett
played from 1973-1993 all with the Kansas City Royals. He retired after the 1993 season with a .305 career average, 3,154 hits,
317 HRs, and 1,595 RBIs. George Brett was a 13-time All Star selection and 3-time Silver Slugger Award winner. He was a Gold
Glove Award winner and World Series Champion in 1985. Brett was the 1980 AL MVP and 1985 ALCS MVP. He was inducted
into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999.
This 34.5", 31.9 oz gamer shows evidence of excellent use. Several ball marks and seam impressions are visible on the right and
back barrel surfaces. The handle has a moderate coat of Brett's characteristic pine tar and and has a repaired crack. The knob has
his characteristic GB5 written in black marker. There are no markings on the barrel end.
This bat is accompanied by an LOA from Hall of Fame Bats. It was acquired from a former Seattle Mariners clubhouse attendant
who acquired the bat from George Brett at the end of the 1983 season. Not only does it date to a great era for Brett statistically,
but it is specific to the same year as the infamous "pine tar incident".
