Key Characteristics
There are many modern players that are thought of as "sluggers". However, few modern players are better known as a true "hitter" than Wade
Boggs. Wade had an uncanny ability to simply put bat on ball.  Boggs retired after the 1999 season with a lifetime average of .328. He batted
.300 or better in 15 of his 18 seasons including an amazing 10-straight .300 plus seasons (1982-1991) to start his career. He won 5 batting titles
starting in 1983 and was inducted into the baseball hall of fame in 2005.

Pine Tar Application/Transfer
Wade Boggs is one of those guys that is a notorious pine tar user, however the amount of pine tar on the bat should be consistent with the
amount of use.  Boggs applies the tar around the centerbrand. When he goes up to bat, he transfers it from the bat to his hands which then
transfers to the handle. There should be definite separation visible between the tar around the centerbrand and the tar on the handle.

Contact Pattern
Boggs is an amazing hitter and is a superior contact hitter. This is especially evident when examining the contact pattern on a Boggs bat.
Because Boggs is almost exclusively a label up left handed batter his bats will almost always have great contact areas on the right barrel
surface of the bat. He was one of the best at hitting the ball in the same place time after time which would cause a tight area of ball marks, seam
impressions, and grain swelling.

Knob Markings
Premier Boggs gamers are easily identified by the knob markings. The knobs of his bats will almost always have his uniform number marked
boldly in black marker.  The style of '2' either in his #26 or #12 is easily recognized.
